As well as past years, Google publishes a report with the most searched terms and trends in search.

The lists are based on the search terms that had the biggest increase this year compared to the previous year.

 

The year 2022 in a Google search

Google offers the option of displaying results by regions and countries of the world, then by specific categories such as the most searched athletes, news and the like.

At the time of publishing this blog, most countries are unavailable, information for them cannot be seen.

Looking at the whole world, the most searched words in 2022 were "Queen Elizabeth", "World Cup", "Iphone 14", "Wordle", "Ukraine".

People who were most "trending" in Google search are Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Vladimir Putin, Novak Djokovic, Amber Heard.

In Trends, you can also find information from other Google apps such as Google Lens and Google Maps.

For example, there is a category of "cultural landmarks" where the following are listed: Buckingham Palace, the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Status of Christ the Savior, the Royal Palace in Brussels, and the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.

In addition to the above searches, users Googled phrases like "can i go to space", "can i change", "how to be spontaneous", "how to be original" more than ever before. '.
